Penelope “Penny” Lane was born the 3rd child out of 6 to a non-prestigious Sharlayan family. From a young age, she was tormented by visions of events yet to pass, and haunted by premonitions of the future. Due to this “condition”, Penny wasn’t able to thrive in her environment, and often fell short of others expectations of her. By her peers she was regarded as “creepy” or “off putting”, and along with her inability to excel academically, she was frequently excluded and ostracized by those around her.
The saving grace for Penny was her loving family, who supported her and didn’t view her as any less for her struggles. Ever since her condition manifested when she was a small child, her parents have done all they can to support her. Penny doesn’t hold any resentment for those around her, even if she reasonably should. Instead, she spent most of her time observing those around her, and grew to understand how people think and feel. Penny does view herself as a burden however.
Another person who supported her was her best friend Nile, whom she had been inseparable with, ever since they were paired together for a group project during their time at The Studium. Although Penny ended up dropping out and going to another school, they remained close, with Nile frequently tutoring her as an excuse to hang out. His parents were not a fan of Penny, as his family was prestigious while hers was not.
During the later parts of her time in Sharlayan, Penny worked as a barista at The Last Stand. The other employees there were kind about her condition.
One day Penny received a vision that entailed she should leave Sharlayan, along wiht NIle. She went to his house in the middle of the night, and told him that they had to leave. Nile, who trusted in her visions, leaves along with her to Eorzea

She doesn’t understand why, but the visions and sense of dread that have haunted her for her entire life let up once she and Nile get to Limsa Lominsa. Because of this, she becomes impulsive and kind of insensitive, spending too much money and acting somewhat inappropriately. She also comes onto Nile pretty hardcore and makes him uncomfortable, driving a wedge into their friendship.
The bloody banquet is a reality check for her and she snaps out of it, apologizing to Nile and striving to be a better version of herself

During the Dragonsong War, Penny finds herself further through helping those in need.

•LOVES bugs and finds them super cool and interesting
•The majority of Penny's visions were of the final days, but they were vague enough that she wasn't sure about what was happening. She saw a lot of blasphemies
